Abstract
The concept of industrial performance has been a major issue for manufacturing companies for a long time. In the last few years, the important changes of the industrial context have led to new performance expression requirements. After having overviewed the chronological evolution of performance expression, current developments are stated and new directions are discussed, especially the temporal dynamics of performance.
