Abstract :
This paper considers a down-link wide-band code division multiple access (WCDMA) with a nonlinear transmitter and frequency selective (or non-flat) fading plus AWGN channels, using each of decorrelating and MMSE detector receivers. The transmitter nonlinearity should be overcome by considering some back-off in the transmitter output power. This paper studies effects of the nonlinear transmitter on the symbol error rate (SER) and the received SNR, through computer simulations. Simulation results show that a larger value for back-off in the transmitter output power improves both the SER and the received SNR, and the transmitter amplifier behaves more like a linear amplifier. As well, the MMSE detector outperforms the decorrelating detector for larger values of SNRs
