  • Abstract
The multiple scales method is applied to the coupling of Maxwell´s equations to Newton´s Second Law in order to investigate the dynamics of optical trapping within the Rayleigh regime. Our study reveals analytical expressions for the Doppler shift created by a particle moving in an electromagnetic field and how this shift is influenced through small frequency modulation of the light source.
