Abstract
This paper introduced the "PCOLA/SOQ" defect model of board test coverage. The ability to take any board made up of any collection of devices, enumerate all the device and connection defects and grade the effectiveness of a test is a huge step towards really understanding and communicating board test coverage. Measuring expected board quality and the risk you necessarily take when coverage is incomplete it helps board manufacturers make more informed choices.
