Abstract
Hybrid fibre radio (HFR) is a potential solution for combining the capacity of optical networks with the flexibility and mobility of wireless access networks. The vast majority of present consumers believe on the new notion "to be always on communication, anywhere, and with anything". Either outdoor or indoor wireless coverage of the last few end-subscriber meters is being essential part of broadband communication networks. While single mode fibre is used in outdoor systems, new buildings have pre-installed multimode fibre (MMF). After proposing and evaluating a low-cost single-user HFR demonstrator for indoor applications, multi-users transmissions, using optical code division multiple access (O-CDMA), are suggested. In order to mitigate the multiple access interferences (MAI), which enfeeble significantly O-CDMA conventional receiver (CR) performances, we propose and discuss the multi-user detectors (MUD) for optical networks. Both optical parallel interference cancellation system (Opt-PIC) and optical serial cancellation system (Opt-SIC) in an O-CDMA network are discussed
