Abstract
Interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) is a high efficient motor and operates in wide speed region; therefore it is used widely in industrial and home appliance applications. However, the torque ripple of synchronous motors such as IPMSM and synchronous reluctance motor (SynRM) is very large. The variation of magnetic resistance between flux barriers and teeth causes the torque ripple. In this paper, flux barriers are asymmetrically designed so that the relative position relation between outer edge of flux barriers and teeth may not be in agreement. As a result, torque ripple can be reduced dramatically.
