Abstract :
A novel electronic ballast for the low-wattage HID lamps with less components is proposed. The proposed ballast provides low-frequency square wave current to the lamp to avoid acoustic resonance. A prototype with the efficiency of 92% for a 70 W MH lamp verifies its feasibility.
