Abstract
In order to accommodate the cooperation between different sites and internationalization of architectural engineering design, we propose a theoretical framework of remote cooperative CAD platform and technology used to develop a Virtual Reality Design Room (VRDR). The structure of the platform is a distributed client-server. We take advantage of the Web and databases to solve problems met in cooperative architectural engineering design, such as data sharing, data updating, and data consistency. We realized VRDR. The platform supports the functions such as data transferring rapidly and management on the net. We anticipate that the platform will be put to use widely by architectural engineering design enterprises. It can accelerate using information technology in architectural engineering. The cost of cooperative work can be mitigated greatly by using the platform.
