Abstract
Network coding has been proposed as a promising solution to improve the message delivery ratio and delivery delay in disruption tolerant networks. However, it suffers from a significant waste of limited contact times due to exchanges of redundant encodings when nodes carry similar sets of encodings. In order to reduce these wasteful exchanges, recently the nullspace stopping condition (NSC) has been proposed. We evaluate the performance benefits of NSC in several different settings. To this end, we first propose an efficient algorithm for computing the nullspace basis. Secondly, we demonstrate that the benefits of NSC varies significantly from one scenario to another.
