2009 IEEE/ACM/IFIP 7th Workshop on Embedded Systems for Real-Time Multimedia (ESTIMEDIA 2009) [Conference welcome]

Embedded multimedia systems represent an important segment of today??s electronic industry. While there has been a notable growth in the use of such systems, their design process has become remarkably difficult due to the increasing design complexity and shortened time-to-market. Further, mixed hardware/software solutions are increasingly becoming common in multimedia systems, as a result of which the separation between hardware design and software development is slowly disappearing. The seventh edition of ESTIMedia is once again intended to be a forum for specialists from academia and industry for defining design methodologies, architectures and circuits for future embedded multimedia systems. This year, the workshop features 16 high-quality technical papers, which have been carefully selected from 30 submissions from all over the world. Each submission was thoroughly reviewed, receiving at least 4 reviews and on average even 4.5 reviews. The program is organized in five regular paper presentation sessions and four interactive and poster sessions. Moreover, it includes two exciting keynote talks by Dr. Diederik Verkest (IMEC) and Dr. Jan-Willem van de Waerdt (NXP Semiconductors).
