Abstract
On the basis of GIS and the latest data traffic data of Panyu region, which is one of the regions of Guangzhou city, this paper analyzes the road network density, road proportion and saturation during the traffic peak. The result shows that, the density of branch roads is so low that most of the traffic volume collects on the arterial roads, and then arterial roads work as access roads and value in use of these roads become less. Low road capacity and concentrated public traffic lines are the most important reasons of traffic jams, so road network density, proportion, public traffic and pedestrian system should be ameliorated in order to improve the transportation condition in central area of Panyu region.
