Abstract
A method for measuring narrow pulse width of a pulse train by means of single channel time analyzer is described. The provided method is free of limitations concerning dead time of measuring channel of the analyzer. It is shown that cycle-to-cycle jitter measurement of the pulse train allows estimating both pulse width measurement error and minimum acceptable pulse width, which is determined by specifying a relative measurement error. Measurement results of 1 ns and 4 ns pulses with errors of ±65 ps and ±10 ps respectively are presented.
