Abstract
As the scope of model based control system development enlarges from R&D activities to advanced engineering and production environments, the need for applying software engineering principles in terms of work product variation management during development becomes important. This paper illustrates the relevant issues through use cases and identifies key tool chain requirements to help address these issues.
