Abstract
This article describes a computational system that can support designers in the objective evaluation and selection of design alternatives. The system, called the Design Objectives Decomposition Case Base (DODCAB), utilizes some of the principles of Case Based Reasoning. It captures expertise from expert users to provide support to novices who may use the system later The system uses Value Analysis techniques as a framework for the systemic evaluation of alternatives.
