Abstract
Although it is usually assumed in the literature that interference to MEMO communication systems will be prevented by regulation, MEMO might in future be used in applications where strong interference could occur. This paper investigates the integration of an interference suppression block into the receiver of a MIMO system which incorporates turbo coding, in order to provide a robust, high date-rate communications system. The resulting receiver is shown to be able to approach the information-theoretic capacity, i.e. maximum possible data rate, in highly scattering environments, despite a high level of unstructured interference.
