Abstract
In indoor wireless communication, the severe multipath fading channel hampers the ability to send multimedia traffic. The variability of this channel enforces the use of adaptive systems in order to achieve sufficient throughput and power efficiency. Turbo codes provide unique possibilities regarding adaptive error coding. In this paper, we present an adaptive decoding scheme for turbo coded broadcast messages, using a new stop criterion. This scheme limits the number of decoding iterations to a minimum, leading to considerable power savings. Furthermore, the decision on the exact decoding performance can be taken a posteriori in the receiver and therefore requires no signaling whatsoever between sender and receiver
