Abstract
A new technique for enhancing the reliability and quality of dual independent distribution fed power sources for critical industrial and commercial applications is proposed. The system consists of an open transition automatic transfer switch followed by a parallel-connected inverter fed by both sources, which supplies the output through a boost transformer. High efficiency during normal operation is achieved through a static switch that bypasses the inverter. The proposed topology ensures continuous ride through during the open transition period of the ATS and also provides protection against sag events on both sources simultaneously. The operation of the proposed topology along with simulation and experimental results is discussed in depth. In conclusion, the performance and cost of the Dual Source DySC is compared to other more traditional solutions.
