Abstract :
CDMA2000 cellular technology utilizing the 450MHz band is recognized as CDMA450. CDMA450 has coverage advantage when compared to other 3G mobile networks since using the lowest band of UHF spectrum. Although CDMA450 is capable to cover vast area especially in the low density populated areas, the issues regarding shadowed and dead spots are to be anticipated. This paper firstly introduces the CDMA450 technology and the importance of repeater to improve the coverage of CDMA450 network. Subsequently, the repeater design and development for CDMA450 applications are presented. Based on the lab test, the repeater prototype is capable to deliver 10W of Forward Link output power and 2W of Reverse Link output power.
