Abstract :
OvTDM (overlapping time division multiplexing) is a novel method for high spectrum efficiency. The optimal detection of OvTDM is the maximum-likelihood sequence detection (MLSD). However, the detector is too complex to be available in future mobile communication systems. In the paper, a novel system named FDE-OvTDM is proposed for future uplink communications, and the performance of two sub-optimal detectors will be investigated. The signaling scheme, system design and spectrum efficiency of FDE-OvTDM are discussed in detail. Simulation results prove that the performance of FDE-OvTDM is better than that of SC-FDE and OFDM under high spectrum efficiency, and the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) of OvTDM is better than that of OFDM.
