Abstract
This paper presents a testing tool for distributed embedded software. Our Distributed Embedded System Simulating Environment (DESSE) could simulate a highly configurable hardware environment for software testing. The DESSE could simulate real-time network using regular Full-Duplex Fast Ethernet. To support software testing, the DESSE has the ability to monitor the system and take all kinds of tests with scripts. Our tool to some extent to solve some of the difficulties in the distributed embedded software testing: the ”probe effect”, non-repeatability, and the lack of a synchronized global clock, the complexity of the hardware configuration and the lack of hardware resources.
