Abstract
Radio frequency (RF) electromagnetic interference (EMI) is one of the biggest concerns in modern electronic devices. An integrated conducted RF-EMI power line filter to be used between integrated power electronics modules and power supplies has been proposed. A prototype filter has been built to demonstrate the feasibility of the construction processes. However, this structure has some unique high frequency characteristics and there is no, model available yet. On the other hand, a design-oriented model is highly desirable aiming to improve the filter module design. Based on generalized multiconductor transmission structure theory, this paper presents the electromagnetic modeling of an integrated RF EMI filter. The measured performance of the prototype is compared with the calculation results. Some important modeling issues associated with this structure are also discussed.
