Abstract
According to the land use data of urban areas of coal cities in China, 35 coal cities were selected and evaluated on intensive land use level through Analytic Hierarchy Process. By comparison of sub-item data and total data of evaluation result, the conclusion were drawn as follows: intensive land use level of the coal city is roughly positively correlated with its economic development. Besides, it is higher in aged coal city than the group of young coal city. According to land investment, land use capability, land use efficiency or ecological environment quality, coal cities can be divided into four categories, which is of great significance for the reasonable utilization of land in the future.
