Abstract
In this paper, operation and analysis of synchronous buck converter with pulse-skipping mode are discussed. The pulse-skipping mode is generally employed in switch mode power supplies to improve efficiency at light load condition. The improvement in efficiency is determined by the periods of skipping and active operations, which depend on output filters of the converter. The impact of the output inductance and capacitance on active interval and conversion efficiency is presented.
