  • Abstract
In this paper, a new CPW-fed patch-slot loop antenna for dual-frequency applications is presented and experimentally investigated. A novel antenna scheme, where a rectangular coplanar waveguide patch is surrounded by a second slot loop, is used to generate two resonant modes. With this approach, two frequency-bands were obtained. In order to examine the performance of this antenna, a prototype was designed, fabricated and measured. Measured results were compared with those simulated by the Advanced Design System (ADS Momentum) software package from Agilent, and a good agreement was obtained. The antenna resonates at 2.5 GHz with a bandwidth of 10% (for return loss <-10 dB) and at two close frequencies 5.04 GHz and 6.1 GHz with a bandwidth of 24%. With this performance, the proposed antenna can be used in both ISM bands for wireless network applications.
