  • Abstract
A novel compact CPW-fed slotted patch antenna for quad-band operation is proposed. The antenna is printed on a 25 × 20 mm FR4 substrate with thickness of 1.6 mm and relative permittivity of 4.6 which has three L-shaped slots and a rectangular slot as additional resonators to achieve multi-band operation. As the four resonant frequencies of antenna are related to certain parts of the patch, one resonant frequency can be flexibly tuned with little effect on the other. The simulated bandwidths for the distinct quadruple-band are 2.07-2.77 GHz, 3.3-3.8 GHz, 5.15-5.35 GHz and 5.7-5.89 GHz, which the proposed antenna is well suited for WIMAX and WLAN applications. Good broadside radiation patterns for the four bands are observed. Details of the proposed antenna design results are presented and discussed.
