  • Abstract
Ultra-short pulser, in which avalanche transistor is used as its switch, can generate high repetition and stability short-pulse, but its output power is very low. Marx circuit can enhance the power of this type pulser. Different charged-capacitance and class of Marx circuit determine different waveform and peak-power of output pulse. The monocycle pulse with 300 ps peak to peak width, 400 V peak to peak voltage (measured on 50 Ω load) was achieved by a series inductance, capacitance and a pulse forming network. The generator has the amplitude and width jitter less than 1%, the pulse time jitter less than 30 ps, the circuit jitter less than 150 ps, and a tailing less than 5%. As well, this generator works smoothly.
