Abstract :
A modified control loop implementation is presented to acquire the targeted 1 A/ns transient response of the 48 V/1 V voltage regulator modules. The control loop is split into two independent primary and secondary control loops to alleviate the time delay of the opto-coupler. The merits of this control scheme are presented by comparing it with the conventional current mode controller through a detailed mathematical analysis. Analytical, simulation, and experimental results for a 100 W converter prototype are presented to validate the performance of the converter in steady state and transient conditions.
