Abstract
In this paper the following topics are discussed: skill shortages in Australia and strategies to combat them, the Tasmanian skills authority, ways to attract prospective engineers to tertiary institutions and suggestions of how to retain them in the course of choice to completion, how to become an employer of choice based on a personal perspective of senior managers of the Powercom Group and the enormous benefits of training employees.
