Abstract
The task of a network monitoring of the grid is to collect the scattered network information between the nodes of the grid, and provide an overall network status of the grid at any instant of time. The architecture of the monitoring system is based on the relational grid monitoring architecture, which provides a relational approach for the producer-consumer model of the GMA. This monitoring architecture is used for building a network based optimizer which is realized by means of cost functions, evaluated using a combination of network metrics. The needed network metrics to compute the cost functions is obtained by querying the monitoring system. Hence, the network based optimizer acts as a consumer, whose query is answered by the relevant producers of our monitoring system. The simulated results show that the number of records accessed is reduced, and the processing time is decreased to a great extent with virtual database (VDB).
