Abstract
The paper has describes the OASIS (on-line algorithm for system instability states) software and an on-going project to develop it into a specific application, the operational tripping scheme monitor (OTSM). This will provide operators with a totally new facility: the real-time analysis of the transient/oscillatory stability of the system associated with operational tripping schemes. Furthermore, they will be able to evaluate alternative scheme settings using real-rime data. The modular implementation of OTSM based on a central object-oriented database provides a robust base for further extensions to the system
