Abstract
We start this work with a discussion of what is ultra wideband. A related issue is the classification of high-power electromagnetic (HPEM) waveforms. Four ways of classifying HPEM signals based on bandwidth that has been recently proposed is described in detail. An antenna system that radiates impulse-like waveforms making use of paraboloidal reflectors has been called the impulse radiating antennas (IRA) and is an excellent example of a hyperband system. The paper also describes some examples of such antennas and potential applications.
