Abstract :
The authors describe four aspects of the future development of vacuum switchgear. Firstly, scientific researchers in the world have been dedicating themselves to the study of compactness of vacuum interrupters and great successes have been achieved. However, they all recognize that the potential for developing compact vacuum interrupters could be further tapped. Secondly, vacuum switchgear can be developed toward high-voltage systems. Thirdly, LV vacuum switchgear can also be developed for the service of low-voltage products in addition to high voltage apparatus. Finally, if a technical or theoretical breakthrough in the development of new contact materials for vacuum interrupters can be made, then the future development of vacuum switchgear is shown to be very broad and bright.
