Abstract
The trend toward miniaturization of high frequency (HF) power transformers and decreasing their cost has motivated research on high power density transformer design and optimization. This paper discusses the calculation of the power losses and optimum flux density in high frequency power transformer used in power electronics applications, where the remagnetization process is often nonsinusoidal. A novel approach is proposed to design the HF power transformer in a accurate, proper and reliable manner. Finally, a comparison of different applied approaches is presented for a DC/AC flyback-type converter.
