Abstract
The recent development of hybrid broadcasting environments has meant that video delivery has attracted great attention. In hybrid broadcasting environments, clients can receive data both from a broadcasting system and a communication system. Some interruption time reduction methods have been proposed for video delivery in these environments. However, in these methods, the server does not change the broadcast schedule dynamically taking account of the requested data via the communication system. We can reduce the interruption time by broadcasting data that take the clients longer to receive via the communication system and that are requested by more clients. In this paper, we propose a dynamic broadcasting method for reducing video interruption time in hybrid broadcasting environments. Our evaluation revealed that our proposed method can reduce the interruption time more than conventional methods when there are many clients.
