Abstract
Present electronic ballast with dimming controls all share one disadvantage, the stability of the lamps changes as the dimming level changes. Therefore, a dimming stabilization method using both frequency modulation and voltage modulation is proposed here to remedy the aforementioned shortcoming. This technology makes the dimming range of gas-discharge lamp wider and lets the lamp maintain a stable lighting state within the whole dimming range. From the standpoints of both theoretical reasoning and practical test results, the proposed method overcomes the problem of dimming instability.
