  • Abstract
The procedures to achieve a doctoral degree vary between all countries. In Germany, in the Engineering and Computer Sciences, a doctoral degree is named “Dr.-Ing.” and qualifies for a high-level job in the industrial field or prepares for an academic career. Most German graduates are going to work in the industry. To improve obtaining the doctoral degree (Dr.-Ing.), the German universities developed various structural measures. In 2010 the German National Academy of Science and Engineering (acatech) announced a competition to promote promising strategies for a lasting improvement of the doctoral training in the engineering sciences, granting awards in six categories. The Bremen Research Cluster for Dynamics in Logistics (LogDynamics) has proven its strength in internationalization by well-balanced measures for doctoral candidates (research assistants and scholarship holders) on the level of supervision and regarding the training of complementary competences and skills in the interdisciplinary research area of logistics. This paper introduces the concept.
