Abstract :
The authors propose an adaptive nonlinear filtering method based on the nonlinear anisotropic diffusion equation. This new method has the advantage of flexibility and adaptability. Furthermore, a new degradation effect, not signaled before, we call the “pinhole effect”, which may result in anisotropic diffusion is introduced and analyzed. A robust solution to this effect is proposed and evaluated through experimental data. The performance of the method is demonstrated on real and synthetic images
