Abstract :
The reflectance of red and near infrared bands has proved to be sensitive to water depth. This paper takes four sections in Jiangsu Coastal Zone as a typical study area. Different models for retrieval of water depth have been evolved based on analysis of the ETM image and field measurements of the research area. Then, water depth was computed by depth retrieval model and the accuracy of predicted models had been assessed. Results indicate that the linear model based on the ratio of TM3 and TM1 was suitable for Haizhou Bay. The linear model based on the ratio of TM4 and TM3 was found to suit for Abandoned Yellow River submerged delta and subaqueous Yangtze delta. The index model based on the ratio of TM4 and TM3 was proved to be suitable for radial tidal sands.
