Abstract :
This paper describes insulation technology for a 72/84 kV vacuum interrupter for a new C-GIS; cubicle type gas insulated switchgear. The insulation performance has been increased by a multigap shield configuration around the ceramic surface, which resulted in 40% volume reduction of the vacuum interrupter. The C-GIS housing the vacuum interrupter has been reduced by 40% in volume. In the paper we describe the basic characteristics on surface insulation and the area effect on surface insulation and their application to a new 72/84 kV C-GIS
