Abstract :
Green design and modular design both have its significant role for the product development process in response to the changing market trend. This research applied Quality Function Deployment (QFD) to achieve the goal of green design efficiency. It also applied Design Structure Matrix (DSM) based on the modular design concept to group different modular parts together to obtain optimized module efficiency. Previous design and manufacturing processes that integrated with Green QFD (GQFD) were investigated in order to find a balance between product development and environment protection. The QFD itself was considered from the customer end. Furthermore, this research proposed the use of DSM to find the result of coupled tasks. Two´s comparative algorithm and loop analysis were utilized to decrease the number of module groups and find the most suitable group dividing approach. This research used electronic translator as a case study for implementation of green design in modular product development.
