Abstract
The past decade has seen a dramatic change in the way British transportation companies are managed, operated and regulated. At an operational level, this has led to the operators taking more responsibility for matters that have traditionally been outside their control. This paper proposes a philosophy for a power network SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) system in a metro environment that fits in with the new organisational structures. It describes the development of the London Underground power system control and monitoring structure and philosophy, and discusses the development of the Central Line and New Northern Line SCADA
