Abstract :
A typical ship area network (SAN) is mainly based on wired networks such as dedicated connections, instrument networks, and shipboard control networks. For a machine-to-machine (M2M) high-speed data transmission with guaranteed QoS and energy efficiency, we consider high-rate wireless personal area network (HR-WPAN) application to ship area network. It is shown that the proposed SAN architecture with HR-WPAN can guarantee energy efficient transmission with well selecting transmission parameters such as transmit power, physical data rate and fragment size. The proposed scheme would be a meaningful approach in implementing M2M communication network applicable to SAN.
