Abstract
This is the first of a series of papers in which a detailed investigation of the adaptive identification and control of linear dynamical systems with periodic coefficients is undertaken. In this paper the identification of stable linear periodic systems is investigated when all the state variables of the system are accessible. Error models similar to those known for LTI systems are derived and used to demonstrate the stability of the identification algorithms. The same concepts are applied to the adaptive control of a special class of plants with all state variables accessible. Towards the end of the paper results are also derived related to Floquet theory which is useful for formulating more general adaptive control problems
