Abstract :
This paper presents a cooperative compact genetic algorithm (CoCGA). The CoCGA is developed from the compact GA and proposed to be used for intrinsic evolvable hardware. The concept and algorithm of the CoCGA are presented. The hardware implementation of the CoCGA and CGA were carried out. The standard test functions were selected to measure the effectiveness of the CoCGA. The experimental results significantly shows that the CoCGA outperforms the normal compact GA both in speed and quality with acceptable usage of hardware resources for modern-day FPGAs.
