Observing standards activities in industrial electronics today

Abstract :
Usage of standards in IEEE IES papers are studied and evaluated. This is a study of papers appearing in IECON 2008 and ISIE 2009 to examine the use of standards in these conferences. The study shows that standards are addressed in IES research and are critical to results, particularly for the industry acceptance of the research technologies. Another observation is the support of industries by creating collaborations such as VAN and SOCRADES that drive standards in technologies for industry value.
