Abstract
We investigate the electrical discharge system in high-pressure inert-gas, in connection with its applications to the plasma display panel (PDP). A theoretical model for high-pressure discharge including the Penning effects is developed, in order to obtain simple analytical expressions of the electron temperature and breakdown voltage in a mixed gas. Results from the theoretical model are compared with experimental data, which agree well with theoretical predictions.
