Abstract
The IT strategy for SEEBOARD was developed for the whole company and not single elements. It was produced with the full recognition that changes in the structure of the company, and the need to reduce operating costs would be prime drivers and that any IT support must be geared to support this. The overall approach was to investigate the processes and methods of work employed in the business and the support provided by the current IT systems. The approach was based solely on the solution of business problems. Any solution identified would be required to be fully justified with proven cost benefits to justify the investment. The author discusses the distribution business review and outline solution, existing method of operation and supporting data. The author then discusses the network management system being developed for SEEBOARD by Westinghouse Systems. The system is data driven and uses a full screen based, high resolution, colour representation of the diagrams, at each voltage level that include full connectivity. It also uses a replacement telecontrol system and incorporates power system analysis software
