Abstract
We discuss the development of an X-band circulator operating at multi-megawatt power levels in overmoded waveguide. The circulator will employ an innovative coaxial geometry using the TE01 mode. Difficulties in maintaining mode purity in oversized rectangular guide precludes increasing guide area to allow increasing the power level to the desired 50-100 MW range.
