Abstract :
Our presentation describes computer modelling of a possible multipactor effect in the output system of an experimental S band magnetron. The output system is a cylindrical waveguide with two coaxial lines feeding a dipole. A metal rod supports the dipole in the middle. It has been observed that certain areas of the two coaxial coupling rods would melt during some operations. Computer simulation shows no indication of possible current overheating or ´ghost-mode´ resonance in the melted region. This leads us to suspect that the multipactor. or the related gas discharge is responsible for the melting of the coupling rods.
