Abstract :
Nonstop systems such as switching systems and gateway systems must be “Realtime-Fault-Tolerant”, with high real-time capability and high availability. The CTRON interface has been specified for real time communication processing. This paper considers the CTRON specification´s adaptability to fault tolerant systems from the following point of view, and then clarifies some problems: management of device status; detection of changes in device configuration; relationship between failed physical devices and logical devices. Finally the authors propose nine new functions (system calls) and asynchronous report interfaces (message boxes) to solve the problems
